Aquaracer History

TAG Heuer’s dive watches, introduced in the late 1970s, have moved through many evolutions - changing with the times and technology, setting design trends and influencing preferences of watch enthusiasts. Heuer introduced its first series of dive watches in 1978. The collection developed rapidly. The watches became more popular due to its design. Heuer created later the 2000 Series in 1982 until 1998. This was a more elegant classic edition with a touch of fashion to the dive watch family with its broad variety of styles. The third generation of the 2000 Series was divided into three sub-collections: Classic, Exclusive and Sport.

Modern Minimal Avant Garde Design
In 2012, TAG Heuer introduced a revised version of the Aquaracer 500m, replacing the previous case's angular design with a more traditional, softer style with a new innovation - the ceramic bezel. The case size decreased to 41mm, the ribs on the dial were horizontal and the date was back at the 3 o'clock position. Stainless steel models included a black dial WAK2110, a blue dial version WAK2111, a champagne dial WAK2121 and a blue dial in a bimetal version WAK2120. This design is still considered timeless today. A minimalist avant-garde design with cult status. These models are officially listed as a Vintage Collection at TAG Heuer. TAG Heuer terminated this production line only 2 years after introduction as it was too costly.

Model Description
This Aquaracer WAK2110.BA0830, is a stainless steel automatic wristwatch with date, production year 2012-2013, black dial, date window displayed at 3 o'clock position, stainless steel case and bracelet. Black ceramic bezel with 60 minute diving scale. Self-winding automatic movement Caliber 5, with 25 Jewels. Power reserve 38 hours.

Anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Water resistance to 500 meters with diving escape valve. Case size in diameter 41mm. Unidirectional rotating bezel. Solid case back with diving bell engraving. Luminescent hands and hour markers. Screw down crown. This watch comes with paper only.

Condition
The watch is in overall very good condition. The case is in excellent condition with moderate surface marks (limited to polish), right next the the watch crown (upper side), visible as reflection on picture. Only visible in certain light condition.
Bracelet upper part, has no signs of any surface scratches or degradation.The lower part has minor surface marks (polish). The buckle itself, more exposed to damages, has minor minimal surface degradation, possibly throughout ageing and very little thin surface marks. Crystal has no signs of scratches or degradation of clarity. Case back minor signs a few moderate thin surface scratches (polish). The movement is running very well at the time of cataloging. It has been tested for accuracy of time and runs +4 seconds a day - which is perfectly in line. The duration of the power reserve has not been tested, so far. The watch may need a clean-up or revision at the buyer's discretion within the next few years. However, as per today there is no need to do it. Please note, that I can't guarantee the long term future working of the movement.

Personally, I would not bring the watch for revision as long the watch - the movement continues to perform that well. A service may cause unwanted side-effects. Best way to keep the movement in this excellent condition - is to wind up the watch manually once a month with 15 to max 20 rotations.
As all marks and thin scratches are limited to surface polish, in addition the watch has never been re-polished before, this watch is most likely the best available in the market.

Previous owner and initial buyer
The previous owner is a famous entrepreneur and politician, who collected watches. He is reducing his collection due to lag of time. Initially purchased at Bucherer Boutique in Bern.

Last remarks:
Considering all aspects, I believe that this particular watch should be reserved for a private collection. Expectations and conditions are favourable, that this model will increase in value over time, if it's not used. TAG Heuer continues its pricing policy to increase retail prices by 5-10% nominal in CHF per year. Luxury good analysts and Sotheby's claim future potential for the brand, being more in favour by younger generation.
